OFAC Compliance

All activities funded through Save Iran comply with U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Our programs operate under General License E, which explicitly authorizes:

• Support for the free flow of information to and from Iran
• Provision of internet connectivity services
• Anti-censorship and circumvention technology
• Humanitarian aid and assistance

Save Iran does not engage in, and does not fund, any activities that would violate U.S. sanctions on Iran. We maintain rigorous compliance procedures and work with legal counsel to ensure all activities remain within the bounds of applicable law.

Tax-Exempt Status

Save Iran is a program of the Middle East Forum, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Our EIN is publicly available upon request.

• Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law
• We provide donation receipts for all contributions
• Annual financial statements are available upon request
• We are subject to annual audits by independent auditors

Use of Funds

Donations to Save Iran are used exclusively for the following purposes:

Secure Connectivity

Providing internet access and anti-censorship tools to enable the free flow of information to the Iranian people during government-imposed blackouts.

Civil Society Support

Supporting coordination between civil society groups, labor organizations, and democratic activists inside and outside Iran.

Humanitarian Assistance

Providing humanitarian aid including strike funds for workers, medical supplies for injured protesters, and support for families of detained activists.

Advocacy and Education

Raising awareness about conditions in Iran and advocating for policies that support the Iranian people's aspirations for freedom and democracy.

Privacy Policy

Save Iran is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors and website visitors. We take extraordinary measures to ensure user safety, particularly given the sensitive nature of our work.

Data Collection

• We collect only information necessary to process donations and communicate with donors
• We do not use tracking pixels or third-party analytics that could identify visitors
• We do not sell, rent, or share donor information with third parties
• Payment information is processed through secure, PCI-compliant payment processors

Operational Security

We maintain strict operational security protocols to protect not only our donors but also the individuals we serve inside Iran. Details of our security measures are not publicly disclosed to maintain their effectiveness.

Donor Anonymity

We respect donor privacy. While we are required to collect certain information for payment processing and tax purposes, we do not publicly disclose donor names without explicit written permission.

Donation Policies

Accepted Donations

We accept donations from U.S. persons and entities, as well as from persons and entities in countries that are not subject to U.S. sanctions. We cannot accept donations from:

• Individuals or entities on OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list
• Persons or entities in countries subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions
• Anonymous sources where we cannot verify the donor's identity

Refund Policy

Donations to Save Iran are generally non-refundable as they are immediately put to work supporting our programs. However, if you believe a donation was made in error, please contact us within 30 days and we will review your request.

Recurring Donations

Monthly recurring donations can be cancelled at any time by contacting us at coalition@freeiran.network. Cancellation requests are processed within 3 business days.
